ADVENTURE DESCRIPTION:
The tour is the best option to see the most of the Marino Ballena National Park. You will be offered a small morning snack, coffee, juice, fruit, biscuits and water, prior departure. After a short walk to the entrance of Marino Ballena National Park (entrance fees included), you will board a boat (wet entrance/landing) for the duration of the tour which is approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The tour includes dolphin and turtle viewing, and whale watching (during one of the seasons), along with occasional sea bird sightings. You may also be allowed to go swimming or snorkeling - water visibility is typically great during the dry season (December to April), during the rainy season (June to November) you will get the opportunity to enjoy swimming in the ocean instead of snorkeling. You'll may also enjoy sightseeing highlights from the boat (not visit) such as The Whale Rock, Playa Arco, Playa Ventanas with its impressive number of caves and of course The Whale Tail Sand Bar Formation will also be part of this fascinating boat tour (if tides allow). All options to see sites or swim/snorkel may not be offered on every tour. Seeing wildlife is not guaranteed as you are visiting them in their natural habitat.

The Térraba-Sierpe mangrove is one of the largest wetlands in Central America and the largest wetland of Costa Rica. It has 32,000 hectares and is highly diverse in terms of biodiversity,
The Sierpe River serves as the gateway to the most extensive virgin mangrove forest in Central America and is a refuge for numerous species of birds and other wildlife. The village is peaceful and authentic, situated on the banks of the river of the same name. All our tours start from here.
The natural beauty of the Sierpe River and the mangrove channels is breathtaking, and the mangrove forest is mesmerizing. The slow boat ride in the mangroves is peaceful and relaxing.
Your guided tour will take you through protected tributaries and mangroves, where you can witness abundant wildlife. During the tour, you will have a chance to see three different species of monkeys and many birds, such as macaws, herons, egrets, caracaras, kingfishers, and hawks. Moreover, you will spot slow-moving sloths, crocodiles, caimans, snakes, turtles, and much more. Spotting wildlife is not guaranteed but no guest has ever done this tour and been disappointed.
Your bilingual local guide is well-versed in the river and know where to find the best views of animals and birds. Once they spot an animal or bird, they will maneuver the boat to provide you with an excellent viewing opportunity and the perfect camera shot.
The tour lasts approximately 3 hours and includes a Bimini-shade top boat, bottled water, and fruit soda to refresh you. During the tour, you’ll learn about the beauty and uniqueness of the tropical flora and fauna of Sierpe River’s delicate ecosystem from an expert guide.
The tour includes a guide, water, and fruit drink. The minimum number of people required for a tour is two. The boats have a capacity of 2, 6, 8, and up to 20 people. Usually you will be on a tour with just 8-12 people but sometimes fewer.

ADVENTURE DESCRIPTION:
Leave from the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos (just about a 1 hour and 20 minute drive from Nature's Edge) to start the cruise by hoisting the sails as you pass Parque Nahomi, then follow the coastline along Manuel Antonio beach, cruising past Isla Olocuita and Isla Mogote and into the bay of Playa Puerto Escondido with an extraordinary view of the untouched National Park rainforest.
Whether you are a sun worshipper or shade seeker, you can enjoy the coastline, sea, and wildlife views while sitting in our comfortable chairs or lying on our lounge beds. There area usually sightings of dolphins, turtles, manta rays, frigate birds, pelicans, and brown boobies during the cruise.
Wear your bathing suit and bring a towel!
You will anchor in a sheltered bay at Playa Biesanz for swimming, snorkeling, lounging on floating mat, or paddling on kayaks and SUPs. You can even “walk the plank” before diving into the warm Pacific water.
When snorkeling in Playa Biesanz, you might find Parrotfish, Wrasses, Pufferfish, Damselfish, Sergeant Majors, Lagostina and even the occasional small octopus. Snorkeling equipment is provided for you to use during the trip.
While you have been swimming, the chef has been busy. Once again on our way, the crew will serve a “fresh from the Pacific” fish lunch or dinner, with rice and locally grown vegetables. They are also happy to accommodate your personal dietary needs.
The morning sailing will return to marina around 12:30 pm. You can then enjoy some shopping at the marina or visit one of the many beaches on your way back to the hotel.
The sunset cruise will come to an end as you enjoy the unique and breathtaking sunset over the Pacific Ocean. With a “sundowner” cocktail in hand, you won’t soon forget the colors of the sky, clouds, and sea. With the last daylight, you will return to the marina.

Our night hike guide has a background in natural history and has worked as a naturalist in the U.S. and in Costa Rica, so he likes to share what he considers to be a richness of knowledge of the flora, fauna, and natural history of the area so you have a deeper appreciation of our tropical ecosystems.

ADVENTURE DESCRIPTION:
This tour combines it all into one tour (an ocean paddle, snorkeling, walk on the Whale’s Tail, Kayak Wave Riding, a small Mangrove Estuary hike, knowledge about the park and its amazing ecosystems!). Spend the day at Marino Ballena National Park and get a taste of the many different ecosystems in the park. We launch out through small waves into the Bay of Punta Uvita. After an ocean paddle (about 40 minutes paddling) out to the reef at the Whale’s Tail, we snorkel there for a while (about 45 minutes-1 hour). Our guide will lead you along the reef, showing you some great underwater sea life. After you are done snorkeling, we paddle over to the Whale's Tail to take a break and see the glorious views. It is a rock and sand formation that occurs during the low tide only. We then paddle back to the beach (about 20 minutes) and ride the waves back to shore with our kayaks. Once on the beach we take a beautiful, short hike into a gorgeous mangrove forest to learn all about this incredible ecosystem. Your park entrance can be used for the remainder of the day! Best months to go are December - May. The months of November and June - August may not be available based on water conditions. Not available in the months of September and October.

This coastal kayaking tour is perfect for those ready for a memorable challenge. You will get the opportunity to paddle on the turquoise ocean waters north and south of the mountainous coastline of Ventanas Beach. If the wave conditions allow us, we will try to pass through a cave or two! Our guides will teach you about the different names of the caves and stories behind the names. We will pass down different legends of this coastline, including the skull that protects the coastline and the hidden treasure where X marks the spot! We also explore the two walking caves on Ventanas Beach and do a little wave surfing with our kayaks! This tour is for people who want high-adrenaline and are not afraid to get a good workout to see something spectacular.

Experience a rich variety of the amazing wildlife Costa Rica has to offer. The Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit organization and every person that steps through their doors is helping rescue, feed, give necessary veterinary care, and so much more. They have new habitats for over 75 animals that are cared for by our professional staff and a host of volunteers! The type and number of animals hosted at our sanctuary is constantly fluctuating and you will discover different animals from month to month. You will be offered a small morning snack, coffee, juice, fruit, biscuits and water, prior departure. A light lunch is also included after hiking. After a small walk to the entrance of Marino Ballena National Park (entrance fees included), you will board a boat (wet entrance/landing) for the transportation to Playa San Pedrillo Station (entrance fees included) - boat ride is approximately 1 1/2 hours each way. This tour includes two walks on different paths (number of walks depends on weather conditions and duration of the first walk), where you will enjoy the beauty of an amazing landscape and a variety of flora and fauna (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects) because of the rain forest covering the Corcovado National Park. This area has 5% of species of flora and fauna found in rainforests all around the world. You can also visit a trail that leads to a waterfall where if you want to take a dip and cool off you can. During the boat ride (approximately 1 1/2 hours in each direction) to and from Corcovado there is a chance to spot dolphins, sea turtles or whales (during one of the seasons). All options to see sites or swim may not be offered on every tour. Seeing wildlife is not guaranteed as you are visiting them in their natural habitat.
OTHER OPTIONS TO VISIT CORCOVADO:
The tour above is to the San Pedrillo Station from Uvita. There are other options to visit Corcovado National Park from Uvita or Sierpe (a little over 1 hours drive from Uvita). The San Pedrillo Station is the easiest to visit time wise from our area. It is possible to visit The Sirena Station, however the travel time to the station is almost 2 hours by boat (only from Sierpe) and tours to this station are not always available. Tour costs for these other options vary and cost more than the tour described above.
There are options for private tours to Corcovado National Park. A private tour provides an intimate one on one experience. These options will be much more expensive than group tours (around $300 to $350 per person). If interested please ask us about these options. Although expensive, these tours offer a very unique amazing way to see this national park up close and personal.

Your tour guide will meet you at El Avion Restaurant the morning of you tour. The drive time from Nature's Edge to El Avion is approximately 1 and 1/2 hours.
ADVENTURE DESCRIPTION:
Private guided walk of about 2 hours in total along the main path and mangrove swamp until reaching the beaches where the guide will stay accompanying you for 45 minutes and returning along the Sloth path to the park entrance.
Your tour includes your own certified bilingual private guide, entrance fee, photo package of the animals found during the tour, snack of fruit and a drink will be provided.
The hikes are easy/moderate, and you should wear good shoes (not flip flops) and bring a bottle of water. Don’t forget bug spray and sun protection too. You may also want to bring a bathing suit and towel, camera, and a rain jacket (during rainy season).
Manuel Antonio is the smallest and one of the most beautiful National Parks in Costa Rica. Your private certified bilingual guide will help you learn about the wonders that nature offers within the park.
Manuel Antonio National Park is home to three beautiful beaches, several hiking trails, and a dense rainforest filled with wildlife.
The park is open every day except TUESDAYS, year round, including holidays, from 7:00am to 4:00pm. The beaches and trails inside the park are open from 7:00am to 4:00pm. The public beach outside the park (Espadilla Norte) is open from 5:00am to 6:00pm.
IMPORTANT RULES: You are not allowed to bring any kind of food into the park; beverages are allowed (water, sodas, juice). No single use plastic is allowed inside the park (bags, bottles, etc.). Drones are not allowed in the park.
HOW TO GET THERE:
If you are coming from Uvita and Nature's Edge, you have to travel on highway # 34 (Costanera Sur) towards Quepos (north). The meeting point of El Avion Restaurant is approximately 68 kilometers from the intersection on highway # 34 where the BCR Bank and Gollo are located (this is the road to Nature's Edge from the highway). Travel time from Nature's Edge to the meeting point should be about 1 1/2 hours.

Prior to your ride, a brief training session is necessary to evaluate your driving skills. Your experienced guide will determine your ability to operate the ATV safely. If needed, there's also the option to ride as a passenger or join a partner in an SxS vehicle.
In order to fully enjoy the activity, we recommend wearing light clothing and comfortable shoes. It’s also a good idea to bring extra swimwear, insect repellent, sunscreen, water shoes, and towels. The ATV Tour typically lasts between 4 to 5 hours, ensuring an immersive experience.

The impressive waterfalls of Nauyaca are found deep in the jungle just north of Dominical. Only a short drive from Nature’s Edge Hotel. The beautiful tropical rainforest and mountain surrounds create several waterfalls with the water from the River Barucito.The highest waterfall is 45 meters (148 ft) and the big natural swimming pool is 6 meters (20 ft) deep, covering 1,000 m2 (10,800 ft2).Tours are available with guides by 4X4 or horseback. You will be able to experience the flora, fauna, and nature experience with either tour. You will have time to swim in the natural pools created by the falls. Each tour offers a unique experience of its own and includes lunch.Other self-guided options are also available with transportation by 4X4 or hiking the 12 kilometers from the main parking area to the falls roundtrip.

The Uvita waterfall is really easy to get to from the hotel as it is just down the mountain road from us. You can enjoy short hikes on the jungle paths or swimming in the natural pools. While hiking you may see some jungle wildlife too.

Hacienda Baru – Self Guided
EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
Easy/Moderate/Intermediate
ADVENTURE DESCRIPTION:
The nature trails at Hacienda Barú pass through many habitats including primary forest, secondary forest, swamp forest, wetlands, pastures, and tree plantations. Some of the trails are short and some are long. Some go to the beach and others to the mountains. All trails have informative signs with information about the flora and fauna. The fee for self-guided exploration is $15 per person for the entire day. Trails are open from sunrise to sunset.
HOW TO GET THERE:
If you are coming from Uvita and Nature's Edge, you have to travel on highway # 34 towards Dominical. Do not enter Dominical, but go straight over the bridge over the Barú River. After the bridge, continue straight towards Quepos. The entrance to Hacienda Barú is 2.5 kilometers from the bridge. You can see the Hacienda Barú fence right at the entrance, 50 meters after the gas station on the left.

Aracari Restaurant Trails - Beach and Jungle Hike – Self Guided
EXPERIENCE LEVEL:

ADVENTURE DESCRIPTION:
A walk on nature trails through the jungle or to Playa Arco followed by lunch or dinner at Aracari Restaurant is sure to awaken your senses for nature and food.
The cost for hiking the trails is $10 per person (paid at reception) or free if you eat lunch or dinner at Aracari Restaurant. Why not work up an appetite and then have a late lunch or early dinner to reward yourself for hiking through the jungle or to the beach.
The hikes are moderate to hard skill level, and you should wear good shoes (not flip flops) and bring a bottle of water. Don’t forget bug spray and sun protection too.
Remember low tide is always the time to go to the beaches in the area. You can plan to arrive 1 to 2 hours before official low tide and stay 1 to 2 hours after.
The trails offer amazing views and if you’re lucky the wildlife will come out to greet you. There are several trails for you to explore (see the trail map).
Playa Arco offers a secluded jungle surround with mountains jetting up from the beach. There is a cave you can walk into (low tide only) and during rainy season there are waterfalls coming down the mountain side.
Aracari offers a variety of local & fresh menu items with a combination of local cuisine and their touch of fusions—from vegan and vegetarian to hearty pastas, sandwiches, steak, and their specialty seafood dishes. They are open from 11am until 8pm daily.
If you plan to visit Playa Arco, you should abide by the rules and purchase your national park pass at one of the ranger stations. Make a stop at Uvita Ranger Station (Whales Tail) or Colonia Ranger Station before heading over to Aracari to purchase the pass. You can then use it all day. So after exploring Playa Arco you could also go to one of the other beaches in the park.
HOW TO GET THERE:
If you are coming from Uvita and Nature's Edge, you have to travel on highway # 34 (Costanera Sur) towards Ojochal (south). The entrance to Aracari Restaurant and La Cusinga Lodge is approximately 5.5 kilometers from the intersection on highway # 34 where the BCR Bank and Gollo are located (this is the road to Nature's Edge from the highway). You can see the signs on the road for Aracari Restaurant and La Cusinga Lodge on your right coming from Uvita,
TOUR:
Nauyaca Waterfall Nature Park - Jungle Immersion
DURATION:
Depends on how long you spend at the waterfall. The hike is usually about 15 - 30 minutes from the rancho where you will arrive by trolley from the office. You also have the option to walk from the office down hill to the waterfalls about 1.6 miles / 2.7 kilometers - 45 minutes to 1 hour and then take the trolley back uphill back to the office from the rancho.

Office Open Daily: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm | Last transport back from the waterfall is at 4:00pm - plan accordingly.

Take Highway/Route 34 to Highway/Route 243, Drive 10.5 Miles / 17 Kilometers to Tinamastes (San Cristobal), turn right on the gravel road with our logo, and travel 4 Miles / 7 Kilometers to their office on the right.
IMPORTANT: Once you turn on to Highway/Route 243, you will the nature park signs leading to their office. You must pass a big colorful Nauyaca sign (this is not the nature park and does not offer the same experience - jungle immersion). After this sign (other operators office) continue following their yellow signs for around 15 minutes. You will find a large sign on your right-hand side of the road. Continue on the unpaved road for 10 minutes till you arrive at their office.

This upper falls is an 80 meters (262 ft) drop. Depending on the season there is a small swimming pool.
The lower falls is where most people spend their time, the lower falls. There is a lovely deep pool you can swim and bathe in and plenty of rocks to sit on. You get a stunning view of both waterfalls surrounded by lush green jungle and the sounds of nature. This second fall is a tiered waterfall of 26 meters (85 ft) and the pool is 7 meters (22 ft) deep.
